The attack of the Senioritis

Journal Entry: Sun Apr 19, 2009, 8:34 AM

Well, I'd go on about how I've still been busy and scrambling to get things done, but firstly, I realize I've been singing the same tune for most of my entries for the past month, and also... honestly, I'm not really scrambling. I should be, but I'm not. I've become kind of apathetic about my work. I mean, what's the point? I'm graduating in a month, I've already been accepted to grad school, and I'd probably have to get negative grades on things to actually fail by now. So really, who cares anymore?

Senioritis. Yay. :XD:

I have nothing interesting to say this week, again. Sorry I'm so boring. ^^;

  • Mood: Isolated
  • Listening to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AATtz__l9S8 ...^^;
  • Reading: American Pastoral -Philip Roth
  • Eating: a donut... yum!
  • Drinking: water

Well, don't stop trying, my friend. Continuous effort will make the climactic moment of passing and graduation even better when it comes.

Also, I must ask... who, exactly, are the Marx brothers?

I know... it's just so hard to focus, I guess. Especially when old comedians are distracting you. ;)

And speaking of old comedians, the Marx Brothers were coughgodsonEarthcough stage and movie comedians from the 1920's to 1940's. Groucho's probably the most famous (he's even got an emoticon here :groucho:)--those joke glasses with the bushy eyebrows and mustache? Those are Groucho glasses. :D [link] This is a good introduction to them, and if you search for them on YouTube, there's LOTS of videos of them. [link] This is a good one of the four movie Marxes. :)

Personally, I think they're hilarious and extremely talented (you can't watch Chico play piano or Harpo play harp and be unimpressed). They don't make comedy like that anymore, unfortunately.

I see. So, speaking even further about Comedians, have you ever seen any of Mel Brooks' work? I recently saw most of Blazing Saddles (it was already nearly halfway through upon coming across it) on Television. It was hilarious from the moment we (my family and I) started watching all the way up to the last part that I got to see, which was the joke with the two Ku Klux Klan suits.

I've only seen bits and pieces of Blazing Saddles, but I have seen Young Frankenstein in its entirety, and it was hilarious. :D (...That is a Mel Brooks movie, right? I think so. I hope.) ^^;

Incidentally, I believe Mel Brooks got a lot of his material, or at least inspiration, from the Marx brothers. ;)

Yes, Young Frankestein is, in fact a Mel Brooks movie. However, it's arguably unique in that what happened is, Gene Wilder is the one who wrote the initial script. Mel Brooks then looked at it, and the two of them adjusted the script together. From there, Mel Brooks directed it.

Hmm, I never knew that! 'Course, the when I saw Young Frankenstein I was a little weirded out seeing Gene Wilder in there... he'll always be Willy Wonka to me. (Not like that wasn't a werid role too, though...) ;)

Wait, Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka? That's news to me. Of course, I never watched either of the Willy Wonka movies, besides a few scattered tidbits.
