My entry for the winter contest. I had a heck of a time getting this to work. First of all, I decided to color this with traditional rather than digital materials, because I can never get the effects I want with digital. However, I always forget that my parents' scanner here at home really doesn't pick up the colors at ALL. As usual for me, this looks way better in real life!

This was actually my second drawing. The first one, after I drew it, I thought, "Hey, why don't I use my pastels?" I've had my pastels since high school and they've hardly been touched. I wish I'd be smart and remember WHY. All I did was outline some of it and my drawing suddenly looked like the work of an untalented four-year-old. Plus, the stuff smears like none other, and my right hand was suddenly completely black.

So. I drew the whole thing again. Actually, my second attempt turned out better than the first... except the chair. In the first one, it didn't look like the chair was eating Garfield like it does in this one.

Then I colored it with the colored pencils that I left here at home, since the only art supplies I brought home with me for the holidays were my drawing pencils and outlining pen. I am irritated as hell with the results. BUT! I do like the way I drew Garfield's feet.
