I know I said I'd update this journal on July 1st, which is tomorrow, but I don't know now that I'll have the time to do that tomorrow. Besides, it's already July 1st in Australia... right? ^^;

This month's been really busy for me. I haven't really had time to look for a job, which I'm sure is going to bite me in the butt later. But really, it was pretty much not feasible for me to look for jobs, with what all I've been doing. Like I mentioned in my last journal, I spent about two weeks in North Carolina/South Carolina/Virginia at two of my cousins' high school graduations, and a family reunion at a beach house in Myrtle Beach. And yes, that was glorious. :XD: When we got back, about a week and a half ago, I was then kept busy by my mom to help prepare for my aunt Monica's wedding. She lives in Wisconsin, but she wanted to get married at the nursing home where my grandma is so that she could be there (not that Grandma really recognized the significance of what was going on, but she did constantly remark things like "Aren't they pretty?" throughout the ceremony). The nursing home that she's at is about half an hour away from Columbus, and since we have a big house, we of course had the reception here. And Mom went ballistic getting it cleaned. Although not as ballistic as Aunt Monica went getting the food ready the day before. And I was the only one in the house at that time to witness it and try to pull her out of it. ^^; My mom's side of the family are all so tightly wound. I still sometimes wonder if I'm adopted, because I look and act absolutely nothing like them... well, okay, I inherited the oddball-ness from them, so I take it back. ;) The wedding went really nice, though. Mom and I played flute at it. And during the entire month of June, I've seen pretty much everyone on the planet that I'm related to. (Making up for June of last year, during which I saw no one I was related to. (I was in Argentina.))

Tomorrow I'll finally be moving in to the apartment in Omaha. I've actually wanted to postpone my job searching until I'm actually in Omaha, because applying online doesn't seem to have the same zing as applying in person. I had thought that I'd probably be able to find time to update my journal, but when packing my stuff today, I found that my laptop was almost dead, because some how it got unplugged during the wedding madness. Oh well, plug it in and charge it, right? Wrong. It's totally unresponsive. (sigh) The thing is over four years old and a total piece of crap, so maybe it's time for a new one... Mom and Dad will be going with me to help me move in tomorrow, and Dad suggested we go to Sam's Club and see if there's a decent yet reasonably-priced computer I can get. I've been wanting to get a desktop for awhile now, and I guess now I've gotten a nudge to just get one sooner. (Dad seemed to indicate that he'd help me pay for it, which is definitely a plus.) ;p I have most of my writing that I am hoping to continue (ie... the Licky/Gos story, and that's about it) on a disk, along with a lot of (but not all) of my Petz. There's also a lot of started fics that I always thought I may or may not get back to... I don't like losing that kind of stuff, but the Licky/Gos is safe, and most of my most important Petz are safe, and the rest I can handle losing.

I'll update next month--I have another wedding I'm playing flute at, along with getting used to living in an apartment and such, and trying to find a job. I'd appreciate prayers--I'm nervous, but not so totally scared that I can't function (at least not right now). And will artwork finally come? Maybe. My printer/scanner still works fine, after all. ;)

Hello, my name is Commander and I draw infrequently. :)

In addition to (and with more frequency than) drawing, I also write, read, play piano and flute, watch dorky DVDs, and pretend to be responsible. I've just received BA's in English and Spanish, and I plan to get my master's degree in library science.

I have many varied and dorky interests, and I shuffle through them at random and without warning. They include (but are not limited to): animation from the 1930's-50's (and some from the 90's), American presidents, Latin American culture, postcards, classical and classic rock music, the American Revolution, old black-and-white comedians (the Marx Brothers, the Three Stooges, Laurel and Hardy, Charlie Chaplin, etc.), DVDs, and cough drops.

I'm really not that interesting, but I try to be approachable and friendly. :)

Hey you, I've been so much in love with Saturday Morning Cartoons, and I decided to make a story based on them. But because I can't draw well ( I just want to stick with literature), I'm trying to find someone to illustrate my fiction.

If liking the Marx Brothers makes me a dork, then I fully embrace my dork status! I'm totally in love with Groucho, no joke. :groucho: Yay dorkdom!
